(Maurice) — The Western Iowa Dairy Alliance held an open house Wednesday at the J & S Dairy Farm near Sioux Center to allow consumers the opportunity to see an actual working dairy farm. Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds toured the facility and also signed a proclamation designating June as Dairy Month. Hundreds of people attended the open house and viewed modern technology on the dairy farm as the VanderWaal’s utilize robotic milking systems. J & S Dairy features a Lely Astronaut A4 robotic milking system along with a Lely Juno automatic feed pusher, and a Lely Discovery mobile barn cleaner and Lely Luna cow brush. Guests were served grilled cheese sandwiches, chips, milk, and ice cream products.
