A Trip Around the World

(LE MARS)–Fabric that’s patterned for a “Trip Around the World,” will help a family with tuition for their children.

The 2011 Betty Sitzmann Raffle features a quilt and an oak hanging quilt rack as scholarship fund raisers.

The family of the late Betty Sitzmann is raffling a quilt for the seventh year in a row. Sitzmann’s sister, Gail Schwarz,  explains there are five different colors of four-inch blocks. They include a two-tone bright gold/brown; a deep blue solid; a two-tone bright/medium green; and a muted brick. She says the quilt is a very colorful, very cheerful quilt and the pattern is quite striking.

The raffle winners will be drawn during  halftime of the boys’ basketball game at Gehlen on February 11th.

To be eligible for the scholarship, families write an essay outlining their service to the school, church and community by January 28th. The scholarship winner will be announced the same night the quilt is raffled.

Tickets are available at the school or American Bank. Photo courtesy Lisa Niebuhr, Gehlen Catholic School, Le Mars.
