(SIOUX CITY) — Quinn Williams threw for two scores and ran for another to lead Sioux City North to a 37-0 blitz of the Le Mars Bulldogs at Elwood Olson Stadium in Sioux City Thursday night.  The Stars scored on all five first half possessions to take a 30-0 lead at halftime.  Williams connected with Drew Gerch on a 19-yard score to cap a game-opening 80-yard drive and then fired a 16-yard TD-pass to Kris O’Neill in the third quarter to complete the scoring.  Le Mars drove to the Stars’ 15 yard line midway through the second quarter before stalling and running out of downs.  The Bulldogs host Sioux Center in their home opener next Friday night.

CNOS CLASSIC at Elwood Olsen Stadium in Sioux City

Akron-Westfield 35 Hinton 26

(#3-A)Gehlen Catholic 41 Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn 0

(SIOUX CITY) — Gehlen converted three of five turnovers into points and cruised to a season-opening 41-0 win over Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn in the C-N-O-S Classic in Sioux City Saturday evening.  The Jays first two touchdowns came just 46-seconds apart.  After opening the game with a nine play, 81 yard drive that Trevor Bouma capped with a seven-yard run, H-M-S fumbled the kick-off return and the Jays quickly converted that opportunity into points on an eight-yard Zach Wurth-to-Michael Whitehead TD-pass.  Zach Wurth’s 36 yard touchdown run late in the first quarter came after a fumble recovery by Jordan Langel to push the Gehlen lead to 20-0.  Alec Mousel returned an interception 65 yards for a second quarter touchdown and then caught a 12-yard scoring pass from Zach Wurth with 52 seconds to play in the half for a 34-0 lead at the halftime break.  Trevor Bouma capped the scoring in the third quarter with a three-yard run.  The Jays return to action Friday at Hinton.
