AURELIA, Iowa (AP) – A retired police officer is suing a northwest Iowa city after his service dog was banned because of aordinance against pit bulls.
Jim Sak, a former
Chicago police officer, suffered a stroke in 2008 that left him
with limited use of his right hand and leg.
Sak moved to Aurelia last month to be with his ailing mother.
But Snickers, a pit bull mix that’s certified as a service dog for
Sak, was forced to be put in a kennel.
Sak has filed a lawsuit against the city claiming Snickers is
cleared by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
A hearing on the suit is scheduled for next week in federal court in Sioux City.

Nelson says the hospital will be serving a traditional Christmas dinner that includes both turkey… ham…and all the side dishes.

Nelson says between 100 and 150 people usually attend the hospital holiday meal, so she suggests you call ahead and make reservations since the event has become popular with residents.

The hours of the Christmas dinner are from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
