Branstad Visits Le Mars

(Le Mars) — Iowa Governor Terry Branstad is blaming the Environmental Protection Agency for the announced layoffs at Deere and Company.  The farm equipment manufacturer announced that in October 460 people will be laid off at its Waterloo tractor factory.  Branstad, appeared in Le Mars at the Four Brothers Restaurant Friday afternoon, on a political fundraiser for State Senator Bill Anderson.  He says farmer’s income has been lowered due to the EPA’s action to lower the renewable fuel standard.

Branstad says he has been fighting the Environmental Protection Agency for several months over the renewable fuels standard, having hosted a public hearing in Des Moines, and traveling to Washington D.C. to testify for ethanol. The governor says the E-P-A made promises that have not been kept as of yet.
