Ted Cruz Visits With Republicans At Pierson

(Pierson) — Republican Presidential Candidate Ted Cruz made a stop in Pierson, Iowa, Friday evening, and spoke to about 200 fellow republicans.  The Texas Senator told the gathering the U-S Supreme Court is wrong with its two most recent rulings dealing with the Affordable Care Act and with the same-sex marriage.

He says he has introduced a constitutional amendment that would allow the people the chance to elect judges to the Supreme Court, and determine the length of service.

Cruz says people need to “re-ignite the promise of America”.

 

(Pierson) — Senator Cruz is the son of a Cuban immigrant who was a political prisoner who fled Cuba and settled in the United States.  KLEM radio asked the Texas Senator his thoughts about the U-S establishing diplomatic ties with the Caribbean Communist nation.  Cruz says the U-S should establish trade relations with Cuba, because he believes it would provide great potential for the U-S.  However, he says President Obama is going about it the wrong way.

The republican presidential candidate says the U-S should instead show strength against Cuba and reform the nation.  He says he is fortunate to have a father who escaped from Cuba.

Cruz recently reversed his position on Trade Promotion Authority now being negotiated by the Obama administration.  Once a supporter, now, he is a dissenter of the proposed trade programs.  Cruz explains why he changed his mind and his position.
