Tanker Semi Truck Overturns Causing Hwy 75 Traffic To Be Detoured

(Hinton) — Northbound Highway 75 traffic is still being detoured between Hinton and Merrill. The reason for the detour is due to a semi truck and trailer that had overturned and is resting in the median. The accident happened this morning
at about 5:00 a.m. According to Plymouth County Sheriff’s officials, the driver had fallen asleep when the semi truck and tanker had entered the median and had rolled. The tanker truck is hauling liquid feed that originated from Feed Energy, Incorporated from Mankato, Minnesota. Tow trucks were summoned to the scene to help get the semi truck and tanker trailer back upright. However, the weight of the overturned truck was heavier than what the tow trucks could handle. A second tanker truck is now waiting at the scene. Emergency crews
and workers from the feed company are waiting for the arrival of a large pump in order to help pump the liquid feed from the overturned tanker to the second tanker. Authorities are detouring traffic to county road C-60 to K-42, and
then back to C-44 and hook up with Highway 75 at Merrill. The driver suffered only minor scratches, abrasions and bruises. At this time, he has not been identified.  Plymouth County Sheriff’s Deputies estimate the road will remain blocked until at least middle of the afternoon.
