Le Mars Police arrested a Kingsley man after he attempted to flee a traffic stop.  29-year-old Joel Rheaume was arrested in the 500 block of 12th Street southeast, behind an apartment complex, after fleeing from officers when they tried to stop him for speeding.  Rheaume was taken to the Plymouth County Jail and charged with OWI 3rd offense, driving with a suspended license, interference with official acts, and speeding.

It was 20 years ago that Westmar College officially closed it’s doors, ending over 100 years of higher education in Le Mars.  KLEM talked with Dr. Wayne Marty, a former educator at Westmar about this date in Le Mars history.

 

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) – Sioux Falls police are investigating a shooting outside an apartment building on the west side.

A witness told police a man got out of an SUV Tuesday about 11 p.m. and fired several gunshots in the building’s parking lot. The Argus Leader says officers found a broken window on the second floor of the apartment and a car with some bullet holes.

No one was injured. No one is in custody.
