Hinton Girls Track and Field dominants towards third consecutive War Eagle Conference championship

The Hinton girls track and field team is starting to become a bit of a dynasty of sorts in northwest Iowa. They won their third War Eagle conference title in a row on Monday in Marcus by a convincing margin.

The Blackhawks scored 188 points as a team scoring 123 points more than second-place South O’Brien. Hinton further proved dominance by winning 14 of the 19 events used for scoring. Head coach Robin Mohr says it does not matter how they got it done. He is just proud of what they have done to put themselves in this scenario.

There were a lot of events that were shoo-ins for the Blackhawks, but there were some shockers that presented themselves too. Coach Mohr says you need those athletes to come out of the woodwork every now and then to put together a team meet.

The Blackhawks are looking ahead to a very tough end of the schedule that will prepare them well. Most teams just have their state qualifying meet and state to look forward to as meets that will test them. The Blackhawks will be going up to Sioux Falls this weekend for the Howard Wood Relays, and Coach Mohr says that meet will give their top events a good challenge heading into the postseason.

The Blackhawks’ final regular season meet is on Thursday, May 2 at West Sioux. They will send some of their top events to Sioux Falls on Saturday, May 4 for the Howard Wood Relays.
