(Le Mars) — Mayor Dick Kirchoff, along with Councilman Steve Wick, and new council member Mike Donlin, took the oath of office Tuesday morning, just prior to the start of the Le Mars City Council meeting. City Clerk Bev Langel, administered the oath of office for Mayor Kirchoff, while it was the mayor that served as the city official to swear in the council members and the hospital trustees by asking them to raise their right hand, and agree to the terms and responsibilities of the civil office. Two of the three re-elected Board of Trustees with Floyd Valley Healthcare participated in the swearing-in ceremonies held at the council chambers. Ralph Klemme and Danna Schuster were administered the oath of office. The third hospital trustee, Janelle Bixenman was unable to attend Tuesday’s ceremonies, and will be given the oath of office at a later date. State law dictates elected officials are to take the oath of office prior to 12:00 noon on January 2nd.
