Rexwinkel Retires From Le Mars City Council

(Le Mars) — The Le Mars City Council will hold an open house for long-time council member John Rexwinkel this morning (Tuesday) prior to the council meeting.
The open house is will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will continue until
11:30 a.m. inside the city council chambers. Rexwinkel has served the city of Le Mars as a council member for the last 20 years. Earlier this year, he announced his intentions to retire from the council. Today’s council meeting will be Rexwinkel’s last council meeting. Reflecting upon his 20 years as a Le Mars city council member, Rexwinkel says he was first interested in running for a seat on the council because he was so impressed with this community, and wanted to do what he could to keep Le Mars a great community.

Rexwinkel says he is proud of the expansions within the city, and he is pleased to have a part in the community betterment program, along with the new city facilities.

The retiring council member believes visitors to our community are impressed when they notice all the “Quality of Life” projects that have been created.

The former Mid-American Energy official says his plans call for him to remain in Le Mars.

Rexwinkel praised the efforts of his fellow city council colleagues, both past and present, Mayor Dick Kirchoff, and the work of the late Scott Langel and current city administrator, Jason Vacura.
