(Le Mars) — The Le Mars Community Women’s Bowling Team returned home Monday evening carrying with them the state championship trophy. The girls’ bowling team finished first at the state bowling tournament held at Waterloo. The girls were met at the edge of town by the Le Mars Fire and Rescue Department, along with about a dozen parents, students, and other fans. The girls bowling team were given a homecoming welcome as the fire engine truck with lights and sirens lead the caravan of vehicles through downtown on Central Avenue. The vehicles that were following the fire truck were blaring their horns as part of the celebration acknowledging the girls’ major accomplishment.
