Gehlen Catholic To Present: “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown”

(Le Mars) — Who among us doesn’t like Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang from the newspaper comics section? “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” based upon the famous cartoon character created by Charles Schultz is now a musical theatrical production, and Gehlen Catholic High School will feature the performance this week on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at the Vi Kellen Memorial gymnasium with the curtain to open at 7:00 p.m. Mark Morehead is the director of the
Gehlen production and says the musical play is directly lifted off the comics page and placed on stage.

Morehead says the play has its share of funny moments that people that grew up with the Charlie Brown character will find enjoyable and relatable. The director of the play says many of the scenes will be recognized from the famous comic strip.

Morehead talks about some of the other familiar characters and themes associated with Charlie Brown.

The musical play consists of six cast members…there’s Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, Schroder, Linus, and Sally. Morehead tells us of the Gehlen students selected to portray those familiar roles.

Morehead says the cast and crew have had an enjoyable time rehearsing the play. What about concerns about the COVID-19 virus? Morehead says Gehlen is taking some precautions.

Attendance to the “You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown” will be limited to 200 seats per performance. However, Morehead says people at home will have the opportunity to view the play online.

This is the first time Gehlen Catholic has presented the musical, “Your’re A Good Man Charlie Brown” but for Morehead, it is the second time he has directed the play. The first time was with Le Mars Community Postal Playhouse Theater back in 1985. Tickets can be purchased by going to the Gehlen Catholic website. They are priced from $6 to $8 dollars.
