(Le Mars) — Firefighters were called to an early morning fire within the downtown business district this Monday morning. At about 4:38 a.m. a fire was reported at an upstairs apartment at 27 and a half Central Avenue NW.
The apartment complex is above the Le Mars Nails Salon. Fire Chief Dave Schipper says the fire was confined to a laundry room.
Schipper says they were fortunate the fire hadn’t spread any further than it had.
The Le Mars fire chief says he always imagines the worst when the fire department is called for a downtown structure fire.
