Kentucky RAGBRAI Participant Reflects On His Two Visits To Le Mars

(Le Mars) — The flags blowing in the breeze across from Floyd Valley Healthcare on Highway 3 perhaps best represents the wide array of participants and the various homes from across the United States and riding on RAGBRAI. One of those out-of-state bicycle riders is from the Louisville, Kentucky area. Randy Murphy is a veteran when it comes to riding his bike across the state. He is a member of the famed Pork Belly bicycle club. In fact, this is Murphy’s second visit to Le Mars. He says his inaugural RAGBRAI ride was in 2005, the last time Le Mars was selected to host the event. Murphy was asked about his impression of the “Ice Cream Capital of the World”?

KLEM news asked Murphy if he knew why Le Mars was referred to as the “Ice Cream Capital of the World, at which he did not know the answer.
