Le Mars Boys Bowlers Get Back to the State Tournament and Qualify Two Individuals

After missing out on the state tournament last year, the Le Mars boys bowling team is back in the dance following a win at their home state qualifying meet on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs did not waste any time in racking up their score to try and win the meet. Le Mars averaged a baker score of 201 through their first five games to get off to a hot start. Head Coach Travis Jones says that was key to the team’s success especially with an early start to the morning.

Missing out on the state tournament last year was not just a feeling felt by those in the varsity ranks at the time. The Bulldogs only returned two bowlers off last year’s team, yet Coach Jones says there was still a motivation to not let that happen again.

The Bulldogs qualified two individuals in Trevor Fisher and Caiden Heitritter who placed fifth and eighth respectively in the meet. Coach Jones says it will be a great opportunity for them to improve as bowlers.

Heading to Waterloo, the Bulldogs will look to get some games in early to get used to the shot. Coach Jones says this is to build confidence going into a big tournament.

The Bulldogs will bowl on Tuesday in the team tournament and on Wednesday next week for the individual tournament.
