MMCRU/RSM/Cherokee Girls Bowling Bounces Back to Send Two to State Meet

MMCRU/Remsen St. Mary’s/Cherokee bowling qualified two bowlers to the state meet after a nice showing at Sweet 16 Lanes in Le Mars on Monday.

The qualification comes after the Royals saw their spot in the team tournament vanish to defending champion Lewis Central for the second year in a row. Head coach Tim Jones says it was a tough way for the baker meet to end, but the Royals had to bounce back in the individual games.

Breanna Staab bounced back in a big way to take the third spot and qualify for state for the second time in her career. Coach Jones says she is a leader, and it showed in many instances throughout the day.

The Royals qualified a second bowler in Callie Arens who placed seventh individually. Coach Jones says getting a new ball not too long ago boosted her confidence and allowed her to take that into the state qualifying meet.

Heading to Waterloo can be a daunting task for those who have and those who have not been there before. Coach Jones says both have the ability to get the job done once they get there.

Arens and Staab will compete in the individual tournament on Monday, February 19th in Waterloo.
