MMCRU Golf Teams Sweep Remsen St. Mary’s to Open War Eagle Conference Schedule

The MMCRU golf teams started the War Eagle Conference schedule sweeping Remsen St. Mary’s at home.

The Royal girls beat the Hawks 227-233 braving some tough weather elements in the cold and wind. MMCRU head coach Kendra Knapp says the girls have had to re-learn playing in tough conditions after a nice start to the spring.

In their second meet of the year, Sidney Krier medaled for the Royals shooting a 53 against the Hawks. Coach Knapp says it has been nice to see her work in the offseason translate to a loose and comfortable feeling on the course.

After a pair of wins to start the year, the Royals are feeling pretty good heading into the second week of competition. Coach Knapp says if the girls can keep their wits about them on the course, they will do just fine.

MMCRU takes their 2-0 record to Lake Park with their next matchup against Harris-Lake Park.

After a tough one-stroke loss opened the MMCRU boys season on Thursday, the Royals bounced back to defeat Remsen St. Mary’s 162-174. MMCRU head coach Mark Schuttler says there has not been too much to complain about with the guys shooting well under 170 in their two meets.

Once again, Kyler and Kamden Bork were the difference makers for the Royals in their win over RSM. Kyler shot a 38 and Kamden followed that with a 39 to pace the Royals. Coach Schuttler says they got much better in the offseason, and it is showing to start the season.

As the early part of the season goes along, Coach Schuttler is reminding the guys that they do not have to try and do too much when they are out on the course.

The Royals continue their conference schedule this week on the road at Harris-Lake Park.
