Woodbury Central/Kingsley-Pierson/River Valley’s Rachel Putze has been one of the best girls cross country runners in the areas over the last few seasons. She proved that again on Tuesday with a 10th-place finish at the Gary Meyer Invitational in Brunsville with a time of 21:20.55.
The course in Brunsville proved a challenge on a couple of different aspects. Putze says the hills and heat made things tricky.
A race like that can test your strength both physically and mentally. Putze says mental motivation is key to pushing past the physical toll your body is taking.
Putze has been put to the test this season running with some of the best the area has to offer. She says she embraces the challenge that poses and welcomes running with the best.
Success is not a foreign concept for Putze who has gotten to state in both her years of varsity competition. She says that is the goal again, and it is going to take raising the bar to get there this year.
Putze and her WC/K-P/RV teammates will compete again this Saturday at a meet in Holstein hosted by Ridge View.
