The Northwest Iowa National Invitational men’s individual title was a hotly-contested one all week.
Friends University’s Trinton Nobles was one of those golfers fighting hard for the individual title after shooting a strong four strokes under par in the first 18 holes. He went into the final 18 holes with the lead after shooting an even par on the second set of 18 holes. Weather conditions were the biggest hurdle of the week, but Nobles says it was all worth it in the end.
Nobles was able to compete at the national tournament as a freshman with the Falcons in Mesa, Arizona. He has been on some pretty big stages in the sport of golf. Yet, he says he was nervous walking up the final hole to seal his win.
Nobles’ three-round total will not be the prettiest by any means considering the weather conditions. He says he had to battle through some tough holes just to stay at par in the tournament.
In the end, Nobles enjoyed his time in Le Mars and gave the tournament very high praise. He says it is one of the best tournaments they go to in their schedule.
The Friends Falcons are ranked #10 in the country to start the season. They finished third as a team missing out on the win by 14 strokes.
