The Remsen St. Mary’s girls basketball team is fresh off a pair of state semifinal appearances spearheaded by a senior class of starters that has graduated. Head coach Scott Willman says that means it is time for a new group of girls to come take those spots.
The Hawks have a small roster of nine girls, but it proves to be mighty. Of those nine girls, just four of them are not freshmen. Coach Willman says he is seeing those four girls take the freshmen under their wings and preparing them for varsity basketball.
One of the key returning aspects of the Hawk roster will be in the post. The Hawks return both Grace Galles and Tessa Tentinger who both saw playing time for Claire Schroeder at times last year. Coach Willman says both of them have added a mid-range shot to their game which should make them a tougher matchup.
With the Hawks graduating so much talent, it is hard to anticipate how the Hawks will do. Regardless of the record, Coach Willman knows that his girls will bring the energy to every game, and that is all he asks.
