The Hinton girls basketball team kept their unblemished record in tact under the lights of the Tyson Events Center on Thursday. The fourth-ranked Blackhawks downed Kingsley-Pierson 69-19 to move to 9-0 on the season.
Hinton was down 6-4 early in the first quarter, and they felt that was enough of a deficit for the game. They went on to score 36 consecutive points to lead 40-6 in the second and ultimately lead 42-8 at the halftime break. Hinton head coach Matt Leary says his team did three things well that helped get them in front.
Three different Blackhawks scored 14 points in the win to lead the way. Whether it was Sydney Doeschot, Karlyn Kovarna, or Addy Pigott, Coach Leary says it does not matter who is getting the credit. They just care that Hinton gets the win.
The Blackhawks will be halfway done with their regular season when 2025 rolls around. Coach Leary says the girls need to stay hungry to get to their ultimate goal of the state tournament.
Hinton hosts Harris-Lake Park to wrap up the 2024 section of their schedule. Kingsley-Pierson dropped to 4-5 on the season.
