The Kingsley-Pierson boys basketball team dropped their contest at the Tyson Events Center on Thursday night. Cherokee picked up the win over the Panthers 73-44.
The Panthers knew they would see a zone defense, and they did for most of the game. Kingsley-Pierson was prepared for it, and that showed in many ways. Unfortunately, it did not reflect on the scoreboard. Head coach Lance Howe says he was pleased with the offensive execution up to the shot, but it was the rebounding that was keeping his team out of it.
The Panthers did not finish the game well getting outscored 21-5 in the fourth quarter alone. Coach Howe says the Braves adjusted to what the Panthers had working early, and it shut down the offense.
Kevin Wright led the Panthers with 17 points, but there was not much help outside of that. Coach Howe says he wants some of his guys, who he knows can shoot, to do that a little more to get in a rhythm.
The Panthers fall to 4-4 on the season. They will be back in action in 2025 with a matchup at West Sioux on Monday, January 6.
