The Le Mars Community boys tennis team battled a very tough Bishop Heelan team on Monday night but fell to the Crusaders by a score of 8-1.
The score does not ultimately suggest how good the Bulldogs competed while not getting the results they wanted. Le Mars head coach Michael Bahr says his guys played a great match even if their scores do not show it.
The Bulldogs were able to wrap up the night with a win taking a big second doubles victory by a score of 9-8 winning the tiebreaker 7-0. Coach Bahr says that could build some good momentum for his team heading into the postseason.
As mentioned before, good tennis can be played without getting the results you expect. Coach Bahr says Ian DeRuyter is a great example of that competing with an athlete that made the state tournament last year.
Le Mars only has two more regular season duals before the conference tournament and district tournaments get going. Coach Bahr says consistency will be key for his team down the stretch run of the season.
Le Mars will play both Council Bluffs AL and TJ in Council Bluffs on Friday this week.
