Disaster Services Building Improvements
The Plymouth County Board of Supervisors discussed structural improvements for the county Disaster Services building in Le Mars during their meeting this week.. The building is located on 2nd Avenue NE.
The county’s EMS Committee, which oversees the department, wants to modify the ceiling in the building, in order to accommodate a Disaster Services trailer. The committee requested a variance from the City Planning and Zoning Commission, in order to carry out the improvements.
But the request was tabled by the Commission. Part of the problem is that the building, the former county engineer’s office, was constructed before city zoning rules and building codes were established. This brought about differences over what kind of repairs need to be made.
The Supervisors will take up the issue at their next meeting.
