Remsen St. Mary’s football drops first regular season game since 2018

For the first time since October of 2018, the Remsen St. Mary’s football team lost a regular season game when the Hawks dropped their 2025 opener to Audubon by the score of 64-18.

The Hawks sport just 17 guys on their roster with 14 of them being either freshmen or sophomores and not many having varsity playing time. Head coach Tim Osterman says the speed shift from junior varsity to varsity may have overwhelmed his guys early on in the night.

The Wheelers were able to run at will against the Hawk defense to the tune of 408 yards and six touchdowns. Coach Osterman says the biggest speed change came on the defensive side replacing many key guys with experience in making the reads necessary to stop the run.

Things will not get easier for Remsen St. Mary’s as they get set to travel to take on G-T/R-A who won their first game of the year by a margin of 58-23. Coach Osterman says he is looking for his guys to fix the mistakes that they can control and see what they can put together for Friday night.

Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM on Friday night when the Hawks head to Ruthven.
