Le Mars volleyball beats West for second MRAC win in a row

The Le Mars Community volleyball team won their second-straight MRAC match with a four-set win at Sioux City West.

Le Mars jumped on the Wolverines early in the first two sets with some strong and aggressive serving. The Bulldogs totaled 19 aces throughout the match. Head coach Jess Wolles says confident serving then led to confidence in other aspects of the game.

Offensively, Brianna Bockelmann and Kennedi Davis led the way with nine kills each, but they were far from the only offensive hitters getting great swings. Coach Wolles says Ashley Hurd was distributing the ball well leading to her 30 assists on the night.

Le Mars stubbed their toe briefly in the third set to head to the fourth set. In that set, the Bulldogs had deficits of seven and six points and still managed to bring it within three at the end of the set. Coach Wolles loved the fight from her team in those more competitive sets.

The Bulldogs are 2-1 in the MRAC with the win and return to their tournament schedule on Saturday in Cherokee. Coach Wolles says playing good competition there is very beneficial toward making steady improvement.

Le Mars gets the Cherokee Tournament started on Saturday at 8:30 AM.
