The Gehlen Catholic boys basketball team picked up their second-straight win to open 2026 with a 50-32 win at Trinity Christian on Friday night.
The game felt like it was being played at a snail’s pace sometimes due to Trinity Christian’s slow offensive tempo. Head coach Eric Kellen said that meant his guys had to make adjustments to keep their intensity high on defense.
Mason Small was slow to get going in the first half but finished with 14 points on the game with 10 coming in the second half. This followed a 23-point performance on Tuesday, and Coach Kellen says he has taken well to the coaching in practice.
The final score of 50 points is still not quite where the Jays want to be at this year. With tough matchups coming up this week, Coach Kellen says his guys need to continue to play focused on the offensive side.
Gehlen Catholic will take an 8-4 record on the road to Hinton on Tuesday in a game you can hear on KLEM Radio.
