Gubernatorial candidate Feenstra talks State of the Union speech, campaign trail

Congressman Randy Feenstra stopped by KLEM yesterday afternoon to discuss his reaction to President Trump’s State of the Union address, as well as his campaign for governor of Iowa. Feenstra told KLEM he thought the President gave a great speech on Tuesday.

The Hull native was in Le Mars as part of his ongoing statewide tour in support of his gubernatorial campaign. He highlighted the importance of building connections on the campaign trail, and stated that agriculture is the backbone of Iowa’s economy.

Feenstra says, if elected as governor, he hopes to connect and continue the work he’s done over his career.

Feenstra will run against four other candidates in the Republican primary on June 2nd, with the general election set for November 3rd.

Explore Siouxland names former Le Mars resident as executive director

Explore Siouxland has announced the appointment of Stacie Anderson as executive director, effective as of last week.

Anderson had previously served as the board chair, and as the interim executive director of the organization since January. As executive director, Anderson will work closely with the Explore Siouxland Board of Directors, staff, partners, and community leaders to advance the organization’s strategic goals while maintaining operational excellence.

In a press release, board chair Barbara Sloniker stated that Stacie “has provided leadership, insight, and dedication to Explore Siouxland over the past two months and we couldn’t be more excited to make this official.” Anderson stated that she was “honored to continue serving as Executive Director and showcasing the best of our community,” and that “Explore Siouxland and the tourism industry are so important for our region, and I look forward to working alongside our talented team and partners to continue building on our success.”

Anderson is a former resident of Le Mars.
