The Le Mars Community girls soccer team took a tight loss in Missouri River Activities Conference competition on Tuesday falling to Sioux City West by the score of 2-1.
The Bulldogs played a good brand of soccer but did not do enough to pick up the win. Head coach Menkem Mehri says the girls are not always finishing parts of the gameplan.
Le Mars’ lone score came from Payton Kerns inside of 10 minutes to go in the first half. She found the back of the net after a great breakaway opportunity. Coach Mehri says she remains committed to making plays no matter the situation.
Outside of that scoring chance, the Bulldogs were able to create many more throughout most of the first half. Le Mars was aggressive in creating those chances, but they missed the mark in trying to finish those chances. Coach Mehri says he needs the girls to go after the ball and not hold back in those situations.
The Bulldogs fall to 5-3-3 overall and 1-3-1 in the MRAC. Coach Mehri says it has been a tough stretch of games, and he will be looking to turn up the intensity for the team the next few games.
Le Mars is next in action in Orange City on Thursday to take on No. 15 MOC-Floyd Valley.
