Flock Cameras in Le Mars
Amid recent state and national news stories concerning privacy and security with the use of Flock cameras, the Le Mars Police Chief calls the cameras a “useful tool” and assures the community that his department is using the technology properly.
Chief Justin Daale says the automated license plate readers do not identify the occupants of vehicles.
Currently Le Mars has four Flock cameras within the city limits: one at Love’s Travel Stop, two on Business Highway 75/Hawkeye Avenue, and one on the gashouse corner at 7th Avenue and 12th Street SE.
Century and Heritage Farms Honored at the State Fair
Five Plymouth County Century Farms and four Plymouth County Heritage Farms were honored at this year’s Iowa State Fair. The annual recognition celebrates families who have owned their farms for 100 and 150 years, respectively.
Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig and Iowa Farm Bureau Federation President Brent Johnson honored a total of 514 Iowa farm families during ceremonies in the historic Livestock Pavilion. The 2026 ceremonies carried added significance as Iowa celebrates America250, the 50th anniversary of the Century Farm Program and the 20th anniversary of the Heritage Farm Program.
Plymouth County Century Farm recipients include Ronald J. Hall, Ann Brennan Pick, Randy & Marilyn Schmitt, Ken & Karen Schnepf, and Duane & Mary Margaret Wachter.
Plymouth County Heritage Farm honorees include Karen & Leland Hathaway, Byron Osterbuhr, Diane Pinkerton, and Sharon Schoeder.
Each 2026 Century and Heritage Farm family received a certificate and farm sign featuring the America250 seal
Supervisors will not meet this week
The Plymouth County Board of Supervisors will not have a Tuesday meeting this week. Their next meeting is scheduled for September 1st starting at 9:30 a.m.
