The Le Mars Community football team wrapped up non-district play on Friday night with a 20-12 win at MOC-Floyd Valley.
Prior to the victory, Le Mars had lost back-to-back non-district games and was in danger of missing their minimum goal of being 2-2 after the non-district schedule. Head coach Ken Vigdal says the win was big to carry some momentum into district play.
The Bulldogs struggled offensively right out of the gate going three-and-out on their first two drives. Coach Vigdal says the slow offensive start was due to a change the Dutcmen made defensively.
The Bulldog offense was kickstarted thanks to a well-balanced rushing attack that saw four different players carry the rock substantially with three of them finding the end zone. Coach Vigdal says having many different guys who are confident running the football made the offense more dangerous.
Throughout the night, the Dutchmen were able to work their way into the red zone four times. However, the Bulldog defense only allowed scores twice on those trips. Coach Vigdal says he was proud of the defense who bent but did not break.
Le Mars wraps up non-district play at 2-2 and enters a very important part of their schedule this week when they begin their district schedule at Spencer. Coach Vigdal says the matchup with the Dutchmen will prepare them well for playing the Tigers on Friday night.
