The Le Mars Community volleyball team dropped a competitive five-set match with Sioux City North on Tuesday night in Sioux City.
Le Mars fell behind early losing the first two sets 25-17 and 25-12. Le Mars was able to bounce back by winning the third and the fourth sets, and head coach Jess Wolles chalks that up to being able to make adjustments on defense.
North was also able to control the game on the service line recording over 10 aces in the first two sets. Coach Wolles says her team needed to adjust on serve receive to be better the rest of the match.
Le Mars’ battle back in the match allowed them to get to the fifth and play for a chance to win. Le Mars then got down 7-1 early in the fifth and 14-10 late in the set but still managed to finish the set down 15-13. Coach Wolles says she was happy with how her team competed.
Le Mars falls to 3-14 on the season and 2-3 in the MRAC with the loss. Coach Wolles says this will be a good point in the season for the girls to reflect on what needs to happen to run the rest of the season on a better level.
Le Mars will head to Spencer on Saturday to compete in the annual Spencer Invitational.
