Orange City Tulip Festival to begin planting on October 23rd
On Friday, October 23rd, the Orange City Tulip Festival will begin preparations for their May celebration by planting around 32,000 tulips in Windmill Park. By the time all of the planting is done, Orange City will have over 40,000 tulips spread across the area.
John Buntsma, an Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Master Gardner and Engagement Assistant in Sioux County, spoke about the growing process.
The full planting process is a joint effort from volunteers and the city parks staff.
The Windmill Park planting will begin on the afternoon of October 23rd, and will extend through the 24th as needed. No gardening experience is necessary.
Rain dates of October 30th and 31st are scheduled as a backup. The sign-up link is below.
