MONDAY RESULTS – September 27

(cross country)

Gehlen Catholic took first in the boys race and second in the girls competition at the Sioux City West Invitational run at the Adams Nature Preserve.  The Gehlen boys claimed the top three spots individually.  Matt Mayer was first in a time of 18:26, Josh Hodgson took second in 18:27 and Jacob Begnoche was third in 19:26.  Greg Langel finished 11th, Derek Bretey 13th, Austin Woerdehoff 16th and Andrew Lipp 19th.  For the girls, Molly Wankum was the top finisher, taking sixth in a time of 16:46.  Alli Sitzmann was eighth in 16:55 and Leah Ellensohn finished tenth in 17:25.  Nicole Ryan finished 12th, Alexis Madsen 13th, Mary Henrich 15th and Kaitlin Roberts 18th.

The Le Mars girls finished second and the boys were sixth at the Western Christian Invitational.  Marissa Marek of Le Mars finished fourth in a time of 16:29.33 and teammate Meredith Rand was fifth in a time of 16:29.85.  Becca Clay took 15th and Hannah Steen was 19th.  For the Le Mars boys, Kyle Borchers was fifth in a time of 17:32.  Palani Permeswaran finished 32nd and Andrew Theisen and Zach Nemmers tied for 35th.  In JV action, the Le Mars girls finished second with Catie Meis, (4th), MicKie Theisen (8th), Jenna Prieksat (9th) and Nicole Van Otterloo (10th) all claiming top ten finishes individually.  The Le Mars JV boys took sixth.

The middle school runners ran at Spencer.  The Le Mars boys finished second and the girls were third.  Trevor Clever was second in the boys race and Kenzie Theisen took third for the girls.

(ROYAL) — Taylor Wurth ran for three touchdowns and threw for another to lead number-six Gehlen Catholic to a 42-22 win over number-nine Clay Central-Everly at Royal Friday night.  The Jays led 16-14 at halftime but scored on all four second half possessions to pull away after intermission.  Wurth scored on runs of 66, 5 and 1 yard.  His scoring pass was a 16-yarder to Mick Sitzmann.  Trevor Bouma ran for a pair of touchdowns.  The win improves the Jays’ record to 5-and-1 and 2-and-0 in district play.  Gehlen celebrates homecoming next Friday against Woodbury Central.

(LE MARS) — Hunter Rohde’s two third quarter touchdowns helped rally the Le Mars Bulldogs from a 3-0 halftime deficit to a 20-3 victory over winless M-O-C/Floyd Valley Friday night at Jim Lorenzen Field.  Rohde scored on runs of nine and 70 yards.  Kyan Ludwig added a 28-yard fourth quarter touchdown run to seal the deal.  Le Mars improves to 4-and-2 for the season and 3-and-1 in district-two play.  Le Mars makes their final road trip of the 2010 regular season next Friday, travelling to Sergeant Bluff-Luton.  The game will be carried on KLEM.
