(Le Mars) — Wells Enterprises, makers of Blue Bunny Ice Cream, of Le Mars, Iowa has announced the company will be dismissing 58 employees. According to a company statement, Well’s Enterprises remains on track toward reaching its goal of becoming the U.S. market leader in the highly competitive ice cream industry. However, in order to achieve the goal the company says it is necessary to make adjustments. Wells recently completed a comprehensive review to ensure that the company meets its growth and profitability goals. The review has resulted in the decision to reduce staff by 58 individuals. Employees will be given severance packages and outplacement assistance. The company statement does not indicate at what level are the job cuts. Wells just celebrated 100 years of being in business.
