Recent Heat Wave Affects Electrical Grids

(Orange City) — Excessive heat waves, such as the one that has hit northwest Iowa last week causes numerous problems for various entities. Utility companies is just one sector that is troubled by heat waves. When the temperatures rise, so do the usage of power, creating stress on the load factors and grid systems. Lyle Korver serves as the chief executive officer for the North West Rural Electric Cooperative that serves Sioux, O’Brien, Ida, and Plymouth counties.


Korver then went on to talk about the type of programs put in place to deal with these issues.
