(Le Mars) — Several football fans and other people will be watching the “Battle of the Border Heroes Game” when the Nebraska Cornhuskers travel to Iowa City Friday afternoon to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes in a Big 10 football match-up.
But, for one Remsen youngster, the game will have special meaning, and he will have an unique viewpoint of the game at Kinnick Stadium. 14 year old Seth
Nelson, the son of Mike and Ann Nelson, has been selected as the “Kid Captain” for the Iowa Hawkeyes. Among other things, that means Seth will be on the sidelines, wearing his Hawkeye Black and Gold jersey standing next to his teammates that will don the famous Black and Gold jerseys.
Nelson admits as the magical day approaches, he is starting to feel a bit nervous about standing in front of the Kinnick crowd.
Nelson was selected as a “Kid Captain” after undergoing surgery in July of 2014.
Nelson says he found out about the problem after suffering a concussion during youth football.
The Remsen St. Mary’s teen hopes to get autographs from his favorite Hawkeye players, including Desmond King. King is the Hawkeye cornerback and was last year’s Big 10 interception leader. Nelson is making some predictions about the game.
