(Le Mars) — People are getting themselves prepared for the pending ice storm that is due to hit northwest Iowa late Sunday evening and into Monday. Kerry Hanko is a meteorologist with the National Weather Services in Sioux Falls. She says Le Mars may find itself in the bulls-eye of the storm.
Hanko says the storm will hit Le Mars and all of northwest Iowa at around midnight Sunday evening. The weather meteorologist says officials are still tracking the storm, saying it could deviate somewhat on its path, but she adds, it is likely we will see quite a bit of ice from the storm.
The weather official says the storm will cover a large area within the Midwest.
Hanko says once we get past the ice storm, then the weather for the rest of the week does look pretty good, with warmer temperatures for melting.
She suggests for people not to travel during the time of the storm.
