(Le Mars) — For the third time in recent years, a semi truck and trailer was hit by a train at the 18th Street southwest intersection near Business Highway
75. The accident happened at about 10:40 a.m. The truck is owned and operated by Schuster Trucking was hauling a Wells Enterprises trailer filled with frozen desserts that had spilled into the ditch. The semi truck and trailer were heading west on 18th Street southwest. The back portion of the trailer was
struck by the southbound C-N train. The driver of the truck, has not yet been identified, but was transported to the Floyd Valley Healthcare. Fire fighters and police are on the scene. Absorbent has been brought to the accident scene to assist with the clean up. Railroad officials, Schuster officials, and Wells
Enterprise officials are also at the scene assisting with the investigation. The lights and crossing arms were operative during the time of the accident.
