Wine, Nuns and Lots of Fun: “Drinking Habits” opens Friday, May 4th

(Le Mars)– “Drinking Habits,” a farce by Tom Smith, is opening Friday as part of The Le Mars Community Theatre’s 2018 season at the Postal Playhouse.

The plot itself is fun to describe, with nuns secretly making wine to keep the doors open at a convent.  Add in two reporters, who are former fiancees, posing as a priest and a nun- AND a gardener who is also pretending to be a priest, and you’ve got a set up for lots of laughs!

Many of the players in this production have lots of experience under their belts.  Hilma Person, Angela Buman, Kim Ross and Linda Bulthuis all play “real” nuns, and Jeff Neary a “real” priest.  Tina Laskie and Joe Ouradnik jump in as the reporters and new to the stage is Ben Sitzmann as George, the gardener.

Sitzmann has never been on any stage before, but when LCT Board President Danna Schuster and your uncle Curt ask you to be in a show, you say…”Sure!”

And that’s the beauty of community theatre.  It’s a place, not only where the community comes together to enjoy a quality, live performance, but a place to teach people new skills and have fun while doing it.

I heard from other “seasoned” members of the cast that Ben is doing a great job and is learning fast.  Ben says he feels right at home.

Come and see for yourself just how fun live theatre can be at The Le Mars Community Theatre’s production of “Drinking Habits” at the Postal Playhouse May 4th-10th. This show is under the direction of Margaret Britton and is being produced by Curt Sitzmann.  Tickets are on sale now by calling 546-5788 weekdays from 11am-2pm or by choosing your seat online at www.lemarslive.org.
