Pumpkin Races Scheduled For Saturday

(Le Mars) — Area children are encouraged to participate in a new Le Mars Halloween tradition…pumpkin racing. Saturday will mark the second annual pumpkin races, and instead of being held at the Olson Cultural Event Center, the races will instead move inside at the Total Motors auto dealership.
Mitch Christoffel says there are few rules that apply for the pumpkin races.

Last year, during its inaugural year, participants used quite a bit of creativity decorating their pumpkin for the races, and Christoffel hope this year’s participants will be just as creative.

The pumpkins are equipped with four wheels and set on a down-sloping ramp that is about four feet above the ground and stretches for a distance of nearly ten feet, plus an additional raceway track beyond the ramp.
Christoffel says participants can be between pre-school and fifth grade.

Christoffel says any size pumpkin will work, and if you need assistance with finding some wheels, turn to the Le Mars Hardware Hank store.

The pumpkin races will begin at 9:00 a.m. and racers are to report to Total Motors located on Business Highway 75. Christoffel asks that participants pre-register by going on the Total Motors, or The Education Station Facebook pages. You can also register Saturday morning at the races.

Jalas Wins Pickup Truck From Total Motors

(Le Mars) — Total Motors of Le Mars brings their Grand Opening celebration to a close as they have announced the winner of their 2018 Silverado 1500 pickup truck. Nick and Mindi Jalas of Le Mars were selected as the winners, and were notified this past Wednesday.

Jalas explains the terms of the contest.

Nick Jalas says he was a little reluctant to sign up for the drawing, for fear his name would be passed on to a tele-marketing firm.

Thousands of people registered for the grand prizes during Total Motors grand opening event. Two other major grand prizes were given away immediately following the gran opening event in early August. Those prizes included a Traeger smoker grill which was won by Adam Wendt of Le Mars, and a John Deere E140 riding lawnmower that was presented to Todd Lancaster of
Le Mars. Mitch Christoffel, Marketing Manager at Total Motors says, the employees of Total Motors are excited about the response to the auto dealership’s grand opening in their new facility. He says Total Motors “looks forward to all of their customers and employees enjoying the benefits
of the new facility for years to come.”
