Dead Man’s Body Found Near Floyd River At Sheldon

(Orange City) — Sioux County authorities are investigating a dead body that was reported found near the shoreline of the Floyd River near the southeast edge of the Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon. A Sheldon Police Officer was initially dispatched to the scene. The police officer then contacted the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, as the location of the incident was in the jurisdiction of the sheriff’s office. The body was seen at about 10:12 a.m. Tuesday morning. According to a news release by the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, it appeared the body had been underwater. Investigators believe the body to be an unidentified male in his 30’s or 40’s. The body will be transported to the Iowa State Crime Laboratory in Ankeny, Iowa for an autopsy. More information will be available as the investigation continues. The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office does not believe there is any immediate danger to area residents at this time.
