Two Vehicle Accident Occurs At NIPCO Corner (Updated)

(Le Mars) — The Le Mars Police Department has released its report following the accident that happened Monday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 75 and County road C-38. 56 year old Frank Distefano of Omaha, Nebraska, was traveling westbound on County Road C-38 when it failed to see an on-coming car heading northbound on Highway 75, being driven by 23-year old Alison Schnepf of Le Mars. The vehicles collided in the northbound lanes of Highway 75. Schnepf was at the time driving on the inside lane. Distefano was transported by Le Mars Ambulance to the Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars.
He was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign and to yield to oncoming traffic.

(Le Mars) — Rescue crews were summoned to two separate accident scenes today. The first accident happened at 11:05 a.m. at the intersection of 3rd Avenue Southeast and 3rd Street Southeast, near the county courthouse. In that accident two vehicles had collided at the intersection, but only minor
injuries were reported. The second collision occurred this afternoon shortly before 3:00 p.m. at the NIPCO intersection of Highway 75 and County Road C-38. Officials with the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office at the scene thought there may be two people injured, but did not know the severity of those
injuries. The names and the conditions of the accident victims have not yet been released by authorities.  The Le Mars Ambulance Services, Le Mars Fire and Rescue Department, Le Mars Police Department, Merrill Police Department, and the
Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the accident scene. The outside lanes of Highway 75 remained open while authorities were working at the accident scene. Both accidents are being investigated by the Le Mars Police Department.
