Gehlen Catholic Girls Snap Losing Skid with Win over Trinity Christian

Gehlen Catholic girls basketball got back into the win column with a 54-32 victory over Trinity Christian on Thursday night.

Gehlen Catholic led throughout the entirety of the contest fighting through a load of fouls called in the game. The Jays and Tigers combined to shoot a total of 47 free throws when things were said and done at the Tim Dreckman Memorial Gym. The Jays had lost four games in a row before last night. Gehlen Catholic assistant coach Brian Kolbeck says the Jays came out, fought hard, and were rewarded with a win.

Heading down the home stretch of the season, the Jays will need confidence to continue to pick up the wins they need. Coach Kolbeck says that this win definitely gives the Jays some much needed confidence.

Seven different Jays scored at least three points in the win. Gehlen was led by Lauren Heying who scored 17 points going to the free throw line a total of 12 times in the win. Miyah Whitehead finished in double-digits with 11 points. The Jays improved to 4-9 and 3-3 in the War Eagle Conference. Gehlen hosts Woodbury Central on Monday.
