(Le Mars) — U-S 4th District Congressman Randy Feenstra visited with healthcare officials at Floyd Valley Healthcare this morning.  He received a tour of the hospital after discussing the need to expand healthcare in rural communities.  KLEM radio caught up with the Republican congressman and asked about rural healthcare.  As for Floyd Valley, Feenstra says he was impressed with the administration, staff, and the facilities offered at Floyd Valley.

Floyd Valley has utilized small interest loans as administered by the U-S Department of Agriculture for several of its expansion projects.  Feenstra says through those low interest loans, many rural communities are able to finance needed community projects.

Feenstra noted he was impressed with Floyd Valley’s leadership in terms of having their utility heating and cooling costs greatly reduced by having a series of geo-thermal wells that re-circulate water from beneath the hospital.

The U-S Congressman says after touring the facilities and visiting with administration officials, he says he is greatly impressed with Floyd Valley Healthcare, and believes the local hospital can serve as a model for other rural hospitals.
