Le Mars Softball Pitches Pair of Shutouts in Sweep of Council Bluffs AL

The Le Mars softball team pitched their way to a pair of home shutout wins over Council Bluffs Abe Lincoln on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs won the first game 2-0 and the second 3-0.

Kylie Hofmann got the start in game one and allowed three hits on her way to a shutout victory with six strikeouts over the Lynx. Brenna Leraas continued the success with a four-hit shutout and 11 strikeouts in the second game. Head Coach Brooke Harder says the two worked really efficiently in their starts.

Hofmann and Leraas give hitters plenty of different looks in the circle. Hofmann is a lefty while Leraas is a righty, and Hofmann induces contact while Leraas strikes batters out. Coach Harder says that contrast in styles is a good compliment to each other in two different games.

The only blemish in the wins was Le Mars having a tough time getting runs in to score. There were a lot of fly outs on at-bats that lasted one to three pitches in the games. Coach Harder says being aggressive at the plate is good, but it has to be done wisely.

The Bulldogs now improve to 12-6 in MRAC play and 14-9 overall with the doubleheader sweep and regular season sweep over the Lynx. The Bulldogs now have won four in a row, and Coach Harder says it is important that they keep this momentum going.

Le Mars is at Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson on Thursday and at the Spencer Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
