Hinton girls basketball is ranked 11th in the latest IGHSAU basketball poll and sits 3-1 following a tough double overtime loss to sixth-ranked Westwood on Saturday.
The key to Hinton’s success this year has been getting plenty of girls involved in the success of the offense. Head coach Matt Leary says that stems from the girls being unselfish and just wanting the team to do well.
Hinton’s defense has held opponents under 35 in all of their regulation games. Size and length make them a challenging bunch on the defensive end. As Coach Leary says, it is not just size in the post that makes them good, but the length that comes from his guards helps immensely.
After stubbing their toe on Saturday, Hinton wants to make sure they are playing their A-game the rest of the season. Coach Leary says that includes making sure to take advantage of any and all opportunities to score.
The Blackhawks continue their season on Tuesday night at Trinity Christian.
