(Le Mars) – The Le Mars Area Chamber of Commerce Agriculture Committee is pleased to announce the 2024 Agri-Business Luncheon for Tuesday, March 19, 2024, in the Upper Level of the Le Mars Convention Center.
Janelle Johnson, chairperson of the Agriculture Committee, “This year marks the twenty-seventh year of the Agri-Business Luncheon. The committee strives to make connections between farm and business. We are honored to promote the Plymouth County agriculture industry and highlight leaders who promote agriculture as well as the future youth agriculture leaders.”
Larry Tranel, Field Specialist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will be the keynote speaker for the event. Tranel is a dairy field specialist and psychologist that will feature Understanding Farm Personalities. Farmer well-being is very important to a farm family’s success and personality differences can influence the stress process and the stress outcomes,” according to Tranel.
The event will include a chamber coffee starting at 9:30 a.m. hosted by Plymouth County Farm Bureau. The morning speaker will be Mike Kintner, Entomologist for the Iowa Department of Agriculture & Land Stewardship at 10:30 a.m. Mike will cover Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) identification, signs of infestation, EAB treatment plans and Ash tree replacement options. The presentation of the 2024 Service to Agriculture Award and a scholarship presentation to an FFA member will also be a part of the program.
Tickets are $20/person and will include a catered lunch from Home Plate. Tickets are available at the Le Mars Chamber of Commerce office as well as American Bank, Iowa State Bank, Northwest Bank and Primebank all in Le Mars.
