For the eighth time in the last nine years, the Le Mars Community boys bowling team is off to the state meet winning their state qualifying meet in Le Mars on Tuesday.
Coming off a third-place finish at the Missouri River Activities Conference meet last week, the Bulldogs were looking for a big day in their baker games. Head coach Travis Jones says it was nice to see the guys put together a complete competition.
The Bulldogs got off to a hot start that was sparked by senior Trevor Fisher who anchored the team in the bakers. He went on a run of 12 straight strikes that allowed the Bulldogs to lead from start to finish. Coach Jones says Fisher is a quiet leader that everybody looks to emulate.
Le Mars’ lowest game was a 180 which showed that they did not make many mistakes throughout the day. If they did, Coach Jones says teammates picked each other up to get them back on track.
As the Bulldogs prepare to return to Waterloo, Coach Jones says it will be more important to focus on the small things to take care of business.
The Bulldogs will compete in the Class 2A team tournament in Waterloo on Wednesday, February 21.
